A Diet that's as easy as "a spoonful of sugar" (or extra-light virgin olive oil) twice a day. A diet that actually reduces your appetite and cravings and puts you at peace with food. A diet that's based on a wealth of scientific findings but is simple enough for anyone to stick to. A diet whose results amaze almost anyone who tries it.
The diet itself states it is very simple. Only two rules to follow.
Rule One: Take 100 to 400 calories of sugar water and/or flavorless edible oil daily.
Total number of calories is what matters. 100 calories of sugar water will have the same effect as 100 calories of flavorless oil. The more calories you consume thsi was the more weight your will lose. Flavorless edible oils include, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Safflower Oil, Canola Oil.
It's recommended to start with a combination of sugar water and oil. Mix 50 calories of sugar water and have 50 calories of oil.
Sugar water must be unflavored (not even lemon). Apparently the Shangri-La Diet works because it gives you calories without flavor (sweetness does not count as a flavor). You can use ordinary sugar or fructose....NO Splenda, Aspartame, Nutrasweet or Equal.
How much you should take depends on how much weight you want to lose. Water - as much as you want and to what degree of sweetness you want. General rule - 1 cup water to 1 tablespoon sugar.
After a few weeks - you will see how your body adjusts and you can then adjust values up or down - to lose weight slower or faster. Don't try to lose more than 2 pounds per week - that's generally considered a healthy rate of weight loss.
Rule Two: Take the sugar water and/or oil well before or well after meals - at least an hour away.
FOOD:
You can eat anything you want. But if you choose unhealthy it will only slow the process. WHile you are losing weight you be eating smaller amounts of meals and snacks, becasue you just won't be as hungry for them.

If your weight loss stops or slows down, try this:
Increase your dose of sugar water and/or oil by 100 calories a day (not to exceed 400 calories per day total)

Add Random Flavors (experiment with spices)
Eat One Food at a Time
Eat Foods that Digest more slowly (increase protein intake)
